Resources
The following are additional occultation and astronomy resources.
2/23/2007
-
I have disabled the 'ignore' feature for path distance because of undesirable
side effects. I will work out a way to allow searching for events regardless of
the path.
-
Added links to time related sites and a note regarding the significance of the
sign of timezone offset
-
Added an acknowledgement page
-
Added a 'last updated' note indicating when the database was last updated with
the most recent future.dat
2/19/2007
-
Search results now properly max out at 100 events
2/17/2007
-
Fixed bug reported by Kazuhisa Miyashita
san. Distance is now stored in a cookie.
-
Limited the number of returned events to 100
-
Fixed improper alternating result grid coloring
-
Fixed IE rendering problem with ShowMap.aspx
2/16/2007
-
Minor change in how dynamic content is rendered. This should reduce the number
of problems tidy finds in the resulting HTML. I was hoping it would fix the IE
problem with the Google Map page but it did not.
2/15/2007
-
Removed duplicate rows from the search results table
-
You can now elect to have the search criteria applied immediately when visiting
the site
-
Google Maps don't render properly in IE6 (don't know about IE7, please try and
let me know) if the site generates the Resource side bar with links. This has
been made optional depending on the browser. You can force the display of the
resources by clicking the link.
2/8/2007
-
Added the a more general look and feel to the site.
2/7/2007
-
Details page for each occultation now includes a small table with duration,
diameter and star magnitude. There's also a link to Steve Preston's details for
the event.
2/6/2007
-
You can now search based on minimum duration and star altitude.
-
When you enter a time offset, typically the offset from UT for your location,
the search results will be adjusted for this time offset. Because of this the
same event may be shown more than once if your search area (location and
distance) contains more than one path element. This may be fixed later.
-
Fixed an issue with the way the search location was communicated between the
main page and the Google Map page.
-
Now stars are always called 2UCAC xxxxxxx instead of sometimes 2UCAC and
sometimes UCAC2. This makes it easier to find the star in catalogs although it
is a minor discrepancy with Steve Preston's site.
1/29/07
-
The map display now shows the search location and the path center. You can pan
to either location by pressing the Goto button. The search location is marked
on the map. Note that if you change search parameters but don't press search
again the new values are not saved and are not shown in the map.
1/25/07
-
Fixed path colors to be consistent with colors used on other sites
-
added Occultation Details page which currently doesn't give any additional
information but allows you to bookmark a single event and get the appropriate
maps and information that may be added later.
-
Made the table font smaller
-
Fixed magnitude search
-
Made time and dates display in UT format (Z at the end stands for Zulu)
-
Fixed a bug in the Map javascript that caused the middle to not always be set.
Here's a tip: if you index an array with a float, you get 'undefined'.
1/23/07
-
Added East, West, North and South radio buttons to facilitate finding the right
coordinates
-
Added star magnitude and asteroid size search
